2015
- We road tripped across the country and lived in Alabama for one month while J attended Squadron Officer School in residence
- We traveled to San Francisco and Monterey for two back to back weddings
- We bought a house and, while in California for the aforementioned weddings, signed our closing documents in front of a 21 year old kid who worked at the FedEx store and happened to be a notary
- J promoted to Major two years ahead of schedule (not that he would tell anyone)
- We lived in Korea for one month and revisited Tokyo and Okinawa
- We brought home Simba, a barn cat, from the ranch
- We adopted Kuma, my cousin's dog
- We took Simba back to the ranch because he kept trying to (forcibly) mate with the cat next door
2016
- We traveled to Washington, D.C.
- I got pregnant
- We borrowed my boss' summer house and spent several days in Vail, during which I twisted my ankle while hiking
- We road tripped through Montana and Yellowstone National Park
- I quit my job after four and a half years with the company (a record for me)
- We sold our house
- Kiddo and I spent a few days in New York City and took a cruise across the Atlantic
- We moved to England and traveled to Ireland and Germany
It's been nonstop hectic, but I'm excited to see what 2017 will bring.
Like most of our travels thus far, our trip to the Cotswolds was a last minute decision but we've been able to stay in some amazing places and see quite a bit, despite our lack of planning. So far, we've stopped in half a dozen quaint towns (Chipping Campden, Broadway, Moreton-in-Marsh, Bourdon-on-the-Water, and Bibury) that look like they're straight out of a storybook (or Lord of the Rings). Most things were surprisingly open on New Year's Eve -- including a miniature train museum in Bourdon-on-the-Water -- so we did quite a bit of walking and staring at miniature trains before heading back to our hotel.

After randomly searching Google Maps and hotels.com for a place to stay, I happened upon the Heythrop Park Resort, a luxury hotel and spa in the middle of Oxfordshire that was surprisingly affordable (like 80 bucks a night affordable). The grounds and building itself were beautifully manicured and the hotel restaurant/lounge was full of traveling families and couples ringing in the New Year. Definitely a fun and festive way to celebrate with a toddler before calling it a relatively early night.

The next morning, after a leisurely and luxurious breakfast, we drove to Blenheim Palace, the principal home of the Duke of Marlborough and one of the few things open in the area on New Year's Day. Given the cold and heavy rain, it was a good day to spend indoors touring the palace's many rooms.
