Yellowstone National Park (Northwest): Day 3

Little did we know that we would be driving into a fairly treacherous blizzard as we ascended the upper reaches of Yellowstone (mental note: check forecast before leaving). Luckily, the roads cleared and we saw some spectacular herds of bison and elk frolicking in the snow. Kiddo taught herself the word "bison" and was beside herself with excitement each time we spotted one. "Mama bison-y! Baby bison-y!" she shouted. We had had doubts about taking her on a long road trip that she wouldn't remember but she really loved every minute of the park, which made the drive totally worthwhile.

We headed all the way west to Old Faithful, where we took in an eruption that was barely visible against the gray cloud cover, before exiting the park toward Idaho. Who knows what we'll see tomorrow!
