After several days of flights and interviews and choir practice and driving long distances, we're back in The Good Life. Hard to believe that we were in Germany only a few days ago; yesterday, I helped J's mom cake the cows and calves and J paired out some mommas and their new babies...after which J and I put in eight new fence posts. After being on the road and living out of a duffel bag for the past month, jumping back into ranch life has felt a bit like culture shock for me.

How do you cake a cow?
ReplyDeleteYou cake cows by feeding them a pelleted protein supplement made of distiller's grain, cottonseed, and grains. Usually, one of us drives the pickup truck through the pasture while the other sits in the back and pours the cake out of a bucket.
