Read: The Possessed, Elin Batuman. An acerbic, witty book that fuses memoir with a critique of grad school and Russian literature. It brought back memories of my own grad school absurdity--loved it.
Made: For J's aunt's birthday dinner -- Ribeye steaks on the grill. Mixed greens and baby spinach salad with roasted beets, goat cheese, and toasted pecans. I love cooking for other people.
Concocted: A homemade balsamic vinaigrette for said salad.
It's been a good day of family fun.
