Grand Lake Anniversary Weekend, Day 1

After a whirlwind and somewhat crazy two weeks in Denver (flooding? working *in* the office? what?), J and I were grateful to be able to relax and celebrate our first wedding anniversary (if we're going by the September 22nd date) at Grand Lake and Rocky Mountain National Park. We wanted to avoid the touristed congestion of Grand Lake Village and spent the weekend at North Shore Lodge, situated at the edge of Lake Granby. The accommodations were a bit dated, but the stunning view more than made up for it. The cabin came equipped with a full kitchen and a backyard grill, so J grilled some steaks, corn, and potatoes--supplemented with tomatoes from the ranch and fresh mozzarella--for our anniversary dinner. Yum.

Mostly, we just needed some stillness and peace to quiet our souls. Our first year of togetherness has been fraught with job changing and moving and working and running around non-stop. This was a much needed respite and a chance to celebrate the fact that we've made it this far, with hopefully many more years to come.
