Our drive up the northeastern border of Missouri and Nebraska on I-29N was abruptly cut short around Rockport, MO where we found out that that the interstate was closed all the way up to Glenwood, due to the Missouri River flooding. Guess we should have checked road conditions before we left. Anyway, this meant we had to drive straight north into Iowa and cut over at Plattsmouth, which was almost 2 hours out of our way. Frustrating to say the least, but the sight of the flood, both devastating and beautiful, made the detour worthwhile.
The promised land
