Aaaaaaaaaand...J isn't going to Afghanistan next month. Major B notified him at the eleventh hour that another unit has been tasked with coughing up an officer for the deployment and that he could go ahead with his leave plans for the end of the month.
Really. Really?!
I'm not sure whether I should laugh or cry. After all of that emotional build-up and mental preparation--on both J's and my part--and our efforts to rationalize deployment as a positive thing, we frankly don't know how to react. Mostly, we're a bit stunned and trying to shift gears.
Welcome to life in the Air Force.
Update: We've decided that this is good news. Very good news. Plans are back on--moving, driving cross-country, Germany, all of it. This isn't to say that J won't deploy a month or two later, as there are still a lot of deployments coming down the pipeline, but at least it looks like we'll be able to spend July together.
Yay! Hope he never gets deployed and you can proceed as planned/hoped.
ReplyDeleteThat's great news! Happy for you!
